SQL Reporting Services

Post by Carolus.Holman » Mon 27 Feb 2006 20:50

I am trying to use MySQLDirect.Net to connect to a mySQL database through the ReportingServices project. I cannot figure out how to have MySQLDirect show up as a valid datasource in the choose datasource dialog box. Currently the "Type:" are

Microsoft SQL server
OLE DB
Analysis services
ORACLE
ODBC
XML
report server model

Any ideas how to use this in reporting Services?

MySQLDirect .NET licensing schema does not allow to use data provider with Reporting Services. We work on this problem now.

We update products on our site every week. So that by the end of the week new beta version or release version should be available for downloading from our site.

How do we implement the MySQLDirect.NET Data Provider into SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services? I understand and know how to configure SQL Server 2000 to handle exteranal data sources, by using Data Processing Extensions -- but in 2005, the files (RSReportDesigner, RSReportServer, etc) are located in different locations, and I can't figure out what should be used for the settings of the and tags for these files. Any help??

thanks,
phyzfer

thanks but...forwarding me to a post that I originally started isn't really a resolution to my problem. And then posting

"You need MySQLDirect .NET installed on the machine where SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services reside."

Is hardly a solution at all! Of course I have MySQLDirect.NET installed on the machine were SQL Server RS resides...How do I configure RS to see the MySQL Data Provider!?

much thanks,
phyzfer

I'm not using Reporting Services (at this time), but would the fix you mentioned also apply to my question in this thread: http://www.crlab.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8750?

There is no fix. We are extending our functionality. MySQLDirect .NET still needs to be installed on a target machine.
