Server install -- ie assembly in-place upgrade

Post by cce32 » Mon 05 Apr 2010 21:37

What is the standard procedure for upgrading the files in the GAC on production servers?

Even the "minimal" install seems to require uninstall first.

The Minimal installation of the latest version will prompt you to uninstall the previous version of dotConnect for Oracle, and then will place the assemblies of the latest version to the GAC. Alternatively, you may replace the assemblies in the GAC manually.

Please tell us if this helps.

I think you repeated what I said so let me ask my question differently.

Could you update your installer so it has the option to do an upgrade?

The installer does not have an option of upgrading assemblies in the GAC without deleting the ones of an older version, as this may cause problems with version incompatibility.
