dotConnect for Oracle and Crystal reports

dotConnect for Oracle and Crystal reports

Postby mkashyap » Thu 12 Nov 2009 20:36

I am trying to test running a Crystal report. It is already created on a machine with Oracle Client.

I am testing dotConnect for Oracle using a direct connection and trying to run this report on a machine which does not have an Oracle Client. I am getting a "failed to load database information" error. All this is in my IDE.

Do I need an Oracle client to be able to run the report?

I came across some code where they were setting the connectionlogoninfo to the crystal report. Is that something I need to be doing? If so, could you direct me to the documentation for it.

Thanks.

This is a general error. Please post here your inner exception and your call stack.

Hi,

Could you please confirm if we need an Oracle Client to run a Crystal Report or we should be able to run the Crystal report using dotConnect without an Oracle Client?

I was getting an error but I thought I had it resolved. But I am back to getting the error I had reported earlier. I am not sure where is the problem.

If we can run Crystal Reports without an Oracle Client can you please elaborate or direct me to where I can find information regarding the requirements, setup, etc., if any.

Thanks.

1. You should be able to work with Crystal Reports without using Oracle Client (i.e. via the Direct mode). For more information about the Direct mode, please refer to our documentation at http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/oracle/docs/DirectMode.html.

2. Our sample is available at \Program Files\Devart\dotConnect\Oracle\Samples\General\CS\Crystal (the default path of our installation).

3. Please post here:
a) your inner exception;
b) your connection string;
c) your call stack.
